Moderate Earthquake Hits Southern Sumatra, No Tsunami Threat

Southern sumatra: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck southern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 8.22 this morning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) advised that the tremor was centred at coordinates 5.6° South and 102.2° East, at a depth of 70 kilometres. The epicentre was located approximately 199 kilometres south of Bengkulu, Indonesia. However, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
