Ministry of Education Ensures Continued Education for Rescued GISBH Children.

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Education (MOE) is steadfast in its mission to provide educational opportunities for the children who were rescued from the GISBH Holding (GISBH) community through Operation Global. This initiative is being executed in line with the ministry’s established curriculum, according to the MOE. The efforts were reaffirmed by Fadhlina Sidek, the Minister of Education, who highlighted the ministry’s commitment to the cause during the 14th Convocation Ceremony of the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) in Putrajaya.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry began the educational process with psycho-social assessments in the first two weeks to understand and address the needs of the rescued children. Fadhlina Sidek explained that these children have now transitioned to regular school classes, receiving guidance from dedicated teachers. The education ministry has taken on the responsibility of integrating more than 300 children into the mainstream education system since their rescue on
October 1.

Fadhlina further elaborated that the education program for these children, who had not previously received any formal education, includes specially designed modules tailored to their current living conditions. She expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that the children are adapting well to the mainstream education system with the support of teachers stationed at various locations.

The operation, known as Op Global, was a police initiative that led to the rescue of 402 individuals, including 201 males and 201 females, ranging from one to 17 years old. The raids targeted 20 charity homes across Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, where the individuals were suspected to have been victims of exploitation.

In addition to addressing the needs of the rescued children, Fadhlina Sidek shared that over 6,000 graduates from IPG have received their teaching placements as of September 30. These graduates have since begun their roles as educators in both primary and secondary schools throughout the count
ry. When questioned about teacher placements in regions such as Sabah and Sarawak, Fadhlina assured that teachers will be distributed equitably to meet the demand across all areas.

The five-day 14th IPG Convocation Ceremony, which began on November 3, celebrated the accomplishments of 6,382 graduates who completed their teacher education and training across 28 IPG campuses and English Language Teaching Centres.
