Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) organized a breaking-fast event attended by over 300 media practitioners to acknowledge their significant role in supporting national peace and stability.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin emphasized the importance of the event in fortifying the collaboration between Mindef, the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), and the media. He noted that the gathering served as a platform to express gratitude to media practitioners for their vital role in disseminating information about national defence.
In his remarks, Mohamed Khaled highlighted the media’s responsibility in ensuring the accurate and truthful conveyance of news, particularly in the face of modern challenges such as cyber threats and misinformation. He stated, “The media plays a key role in fostering public trust in national institutions, including Mindef and the MAF. We greatly appreciate the media’s support in helping the public better understand our duties and responsibilities.”
The Defence Minister expressed his hope for continued cooperation with the media to address future challenges, especially in the evolving digital landscape.
The event was also graced by the presence of Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari, Chief of Defence Force Gen Datuk Mohd Nizam Jaffar, Chief of Army Gen Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, and other distinguished guests, including top officials from the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama).
