Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) will continue strengthening its role as a trusted platform for nurturing future leadership talent as Malaysia gains prominence as a strategic hub in ASEAN. MIM president Datuk Yeoh Soo Min emphasized Malaysia's position to lead in leadership and management development, attributing it to the country's understanding of the region's culture, relationships, and business landscape.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Yeoh highlighted the importance of rooting leadership development in Malaysian and ASEAN realities, despite the value of global knowledge and international expertise. She shared these insights during a press conference on MIM's upcoming 60th Anniversary Royal Gala Dinner. Present at the event were MIM chairman Datuk Zainal Amanshah Zainal Arshad, chief executive officer Kabenesh Eliathamby, and vice-president Datuk Ng Tieh Chuan.
Yeoh stated that MIM's upcoming initiatives would focus on ensuring that leadership development remains relevant and aligned with the evolving needs of organizations and the nation. She stressed the need to support younger leaders taking on management roles early and to value the institutional knowledge of senior leaders. Yeoh emphasized that leadership development must evolve with changing industry and organizational needs.
On the occasion of MIM's 60th Anniversary Royal Gala Dinner, Yeoh announced that the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin would be the royal guests of honor. The event underscores the national responsibility of leadership development and is scheduled for August 8 at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It is expected to gather approximately 700 guests from various sectors, honoring individuals who have contributed to management and national development.
Since its establishment in 1966, MIM has empowered over one million professionals and more than 5,000 organizations through its leadership development programs, executive education, professional certifications, conferences, and strategic collaborations.
