MIHAS Expands Global Footprint With Shanghai Edition Following Dubai Success

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will host the second international edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) in Shanghai, China. According to BERNAMA News Agency, MIHAS@Shanghai is scheduled to take place from Nov 5-10 and will be organised in conjunction with the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025.

MATRADE has announced that this event provides a key platform for Malaysian businesses to showcase their products and expand their market presence in China, thus enhancing their global competitiveness. In alignment with this participation, MATRADE has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the China International Import Expo Bureau (CIIE Bureau) to strengthen trade relations between Malaysia and China.

The signing of the MoU took place at the 8th CIIE Promo Conference in Kuala Lumpur, symbolising both parties’ commitment to enhancing bilateral trade ties and improving market access for Malaysian exporters. The MoU was signed between MATRADE deputy chief executive officer Abu Bakar Yusof and CIIE exhibition department general manager Fang Hui, witnessed by the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing, MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, and CIIE executive director general Wu Zhengping.

MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican highlighted the strategic leverage the partnership provides, fostering mutual growth and creating new opportunities for success. Through international events, Malaysian companies will gain a direct pathway to expand their market reach into China and its surrounding regions. This collaboration presents potential to create lasting value, enhance global visibility, and strengthen networks for future growth in the global marketplace.

Mohd Mustafa emphasized the collaboration with CIIE offers potential in event promotion, allowing both parties to maximise their strengths and gain significant benefits from international events. These events offer a unique platform for global exposure, creating opportunities for Malaysian companies to forge valuable partnerships, increase brand visibility, and expand their markets into China and surrounding areas.

The MIHAS@Dubai exhibition was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from Nov 18 to 20, 2024. MATRADE encourages Malaysian businesses to seize the opportunity of MIHAS@Shanghai, with registrations now open. For further inquiries, interested companies can contact 03-6207 7802.
