Kuala Lumpur:MidOcean Energy, a liquefied natural gas company managed by EIG, has successfully concluded its 2026 equity capital raise, securing over $4 billion in commitments over the past year. This amount far exceeds the company's original target of $2 billion.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, The capital raise included contributions from new strategic and institutional investors, alongside significant additional investments from existing stakeholders. R. Blair Thomas, MidOcean Chairman and EIG CEO, highlighted this achievement as a significant milestone, supporting the company's strategy to establish a robust, diversified global LNG platform.
Thomas expressed confidence in the continued essential role of LNG in energy security and economic growth, welcoming new investors and appreciating the ongoing support from existing shareholders.
MidOcean CEO, De la Rey Venter, stated that the company has developed a high-quality LNG portfolio with strong cash flow and growth potential, positioning it well for future opportunities. The raise includes commitments from various investors such as the Private Department of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, NYK Line, The Arab Energy Fund, Shizuoka Gas, and several Korean institutional investors.
The funds are expected to enhance MidOcean's financial flexibility and facilitate the pursuit of LNG growth opportunities, including both revenue-generating and development assets. The company has assembled an LNG portfolio across regions like Canada, Australia, the United States, and Latin America, and continues to seek additional investment opportunities.
