Kuala lumpur: As MIC marks its 80th anniversary, the party is expanding its focus beyond education to developing entrepreneurs and corporate leaders within the Indian community, said MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan. He highlighted the increasing involvement of the Indian community in business ventures, including online platforms that have enabled homemakers to earn income. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saravanan emphasized MIC's historical commitment to education, noting its role in transforming the Indian community's fortunes and producing quality human capital. Since its establishment in August 1946, MIC has considered education as the foundation of its mission, which has resulted in almost every family within the community producing graduates and professionals. Saravanan revealed that MIC has contributed nearly RM227 million in educational financial assistance to Malaysians. To maintain its relevance and connect with younger generations, MIC plans to continue organizing grassroots progra ms, such as running events, dialogue sessions, and cultural and religious activities. With more than 500,000 members, MIC is reviewing over 1,000 applications for new branches nationwide, ensuring the party's growth and continued engagement with the community.
