MetMalaysia Warns of Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Across Malaysian States

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds across most states until 5 pm today. The alert comes as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety amid expected severe weather conditions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the warning specifically covers areas in Kedah, including Kuala Muda, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu, as well as Penang’s Seberang Perai Utara, Tengah, and Selatan. In Perak, the regions of Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim are also on high alert.

Similar weather advisories have been extended to Terengganu, affecting Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman. In Pahang, the districts of Kuantan, Pekan, and Rompin are advised to brace for possible severe weather. The warning also includes Selangor and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan.

The forecast additionally applies to Negeri Sembilan, covering areas such as Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, and Rembau, as well as Melaka. In Johor, the affected districts include Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, and Kluang. Parts of Sarawak, including Sibu, Kanowit, Kapit, Song and Belaga, Miri, and Limbang, are also under alert.

In Sabah, the Interior regions of Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan, and Keningau, along with the West Coast of Papar, and areas in Tawau and Sandakan, specifically Tongod, are expected to experience similar weather conditions.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather information from MetMalaysia.
