MetMalaysia Issues Thunderstorm Warning for Nine States Including Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya

Kuala lumpur: Nine states, as well as Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds until 7 pm today. The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a weather warning issued at 3.45 pm, highlighted specific regions within these areas that are likely to be impacted by the severe weather conditions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in Perak, the regions identified include Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Mualim. On the east coast, the warning extends to Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, and Pasir Puteh in Kelantan, as well as Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun, and Kemaman in Terengganu.

In Pahang, areas such as Raub, Bentong, Kuantan, Pekan, and Rompin are expected to be affected. Meanwhile, in Negeri Sembilan, the warning applies to Jelebu and Seremban. MetMalaysia has also issued the warning for the entirety of Selangor, in addition to Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Johor, the regions of Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, and Pontian are under the warning. The warning in Sarawak covers Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu (Kanowit), Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro), Kapit (Song), Miri (Beluru and Telang Usan), and Limbang. In Sabah, the warning is effective for the Interior Division (Tambunan), the West Coast, and Kudat (Kota Marudu).

Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during the adverse weather conditions.
