Melaka Tourism Operators Urged To Gear Up For 2025 WTD And WTC

Melaka: All tourism operators in the state have been urged to gear up to ensure key attractions are in optimum condition for the 2025 World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC), to be hosted here in September. State executive councillor for Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture, Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, emphasized the importance of readiness with just about four months remaining before the events.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Razak stressed the need for upgrading facilities and amenities to ensure major tourist sites are at their best to receive international visitors. His remarks were made during the 17th anniversary celebration of the Taming Sari Tower in Banda Hilir. He highlighted that WTC and WTD 2025 are significant global events within the tourism calendar and are key programs under the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.

The event was also attended by deputy state exco for Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture, Datuk Zaidi Attan, and Melaka Taming Sari Berhad chief executive officer, Nur Azan Hassan. Abdul Razak expressed hope for full cooperation from all tourism stakeholders to position Melaka as a world-class host and gain global recognition.

Additionally, Abdul Razak shared that since its opening in 2008, the Taming Sari Tower has recorded 8.7 million visitors as of March this year, with a target of 700,000 visitors for 2025.
