Melaka: The Melaka state government has announced plans to revolutionize aquaculture in the district through a cutting-edge tilapia farming project that will employ Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh revealed that the project is set to be carried out in phases. It will involve the establishment of hatchery and grow-out facilities that leverage smart technology systems. A proposal requesting approximately RM3 million in government funding has been submitted. Should this proposal receive approval, the project will commence in Jasin to evaluate its effectiveness.
Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh shared these developments with reporters following the launch of the Melaka Livestock QR Tagging Programme at Lembah Kesang, Seri Mendapat. He further mentioned that the project aims for expansion to additional locations, potentially starting as early as next year, once the system demonstrates full operational capabilities.
