Melaka Government Allocates Over RM196 Million for Education Development

Melaka:The Melaka government has announced an allocation of more than RM196 million for the enhancement of school infrastructure and educational support extending to university-level students under the Melaka Sayang Rakyat (MeSRa) initiative.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof emphasized the allocation's inclusion of a human capital empowerment programme that will benefit over 140,000 children in Melaka. He highlighted the state's commitment to strengthening the education agenda through various impactful policies and development programmes aimed at fostering a capable and high-quality generation of future human capital.

The announcement was made during the Sentuhan Kasih Ketua Menteri Melaka MeSRA Education Programme event for the 2026 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations. This event was also attended by Datuk Rahmad Mariman, the state Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman.

Chief Minister Ab Rauf advised students preparing for the SPM and STPM examinations to strengthen their sense of identity and spiritual values to navigate the complexities of the digital world. He stressed the importance of developing good character and instilling humanitarian values to ensure that young people are not easily swayed by the extensive information available online.

Earlier in the event, Ab Rauf engaged with 308 SPM candidates, 220 STPM candidates, and 95 teacher mentors present, as well as 11,415 SPM candidates for 2026 who participated online through YouTube and Google Meet.
