Kuala lumpur: Pakatan Harapan (PH) election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has been entrusted with the task of exploring potential cooperation between PH and Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming Melaka state election, as announced by PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, who also serves as the Prime Minister, shared that Amirudin has been given the responsibility to delve into the details of the proposed collaboration. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar made these remarks during a media interaction after attending the National Maulidur Rasul Celebration 1448/2026. He was addressing inquiries about speculations that his discussions with Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar, included seat allocations for the Melaka election. However, Anwar clarified that their meeting was primarily concerned with the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and not political matters. He emphasized, "I met the Selangor Menteri Besar regarding SUKMA. During the Games, when would there be time for politics?" When que stioned about the potential for political cooperation in the Melaka polls, Anwar highlighted the significance of collaboration in both life and governance. He stated, "Room for cooperation... in life, we must cooperate. This is all about cooperation," before departing from the event. The previous day, PH communications director and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that Amirudin had indeed met with Anwar. Anwar had earlier indicated that the PH election committee would deliberate on the possibility of collaborating with BN for the Melaka election. The committee is led by Amirudin and includes PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
