Kuala Lumpur:Anuar Fariz Fadzil, the CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), will be concluding his tenure on October 2, 2026, as he completes his two-year contract. Anuar has informed the MDEC board that he will not seek a contract renewal as he plans to explore new opportunities outside of MDEC.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, During Anuar's leadership, MDEC achieved significant investment and employment milestones. From 2025 to August 2026, the corporation secured nearly RM180 billion in digital investments from over 1,000 Malaysia Digital status companies. These investments are anticipated to create more than 42,000 high-value jobs for Malaysians, marking a transition in the digital economy towards higher-value, AI-driven growth and establishing Malaysia as a creator of technology.
The agency also highlighted that Anuar enhanced MDEC's emphasis on execution, accountability, and measurable economic outcomes. This focus was reflected in the organisation's performance in areas such as jobs, exports, revenue, and investments.
