Kuala lumpur: The government will review the radio industry landscape through a study of the National Broadcasting Policy to strengthen the broadcasting ecosystem, says Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil. He stated that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) would conduct the study, aligning with the National Creative Industry Policy and the agenda of the Orange Economy Council.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, this initiative was among the topics discussed during a town hall session with management and local radio industry players. The session aimed to gather insights, challenges, and suggestions for strengthening the country's broadcasting ecosystem.
Fahmi highlighted that discussions included efforts to enhance local music content, explore licensing models, and ensure the sustainability of the radio industry. The focus also extended to how the sector can continue to grow within the rapidly expanding digital landscape.
Fahmi further mentioned that the government would maintain close collaboration with industry players to ensure local radio remains relevant and competitive. The goal is to ensure that radio continues to be a medium that remains connected to the people.
