MCE Auto Hub To Advance Higher-Value Automotive Manufacturing In Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: MCE Auto Hub is set to transform Malaysia's automotive manufacturing landscape with its focus on producing advanced automotive electronics. The hub will manufacture a wide range of electronic components, including infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), electronic control units (ECUs), and smart cockpit solutions, targeting both local and international markets.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, during the grand opening of the MCE Auto Hub, launched by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, it was revealed that the facility has been specifically designed to meet the highest standards of quality and precision required for modern automotive electronics. The company aims to transition from traditional assembly to higher-value activities such as design, engineering, and advanced manufacturing, aligning with the goals of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Automotive Policy 2020.

The company currently employs over 80 engineers, more than half of whom are dedicated to research and development, and plans to continue investing in specialized talent to foster the development of advanced automotive technologies. MCE supplies electronics and mechatronic components to Malaysia's national carmakers as well as customers across ASEAN and the United States, showcasing Malaysian engineering and innovation on an international scale.

MCE is collaborating with local integrated circuit (IC) design houses and technology partners, integrating their technologies into its products to enhance the automotive supply chain. The MCE Auto Hub represents the initial phase of a RM50 million investment in an advanced Industry 4.0-ready facility, with plans to increase investments to RM200 million over the next decade to support future mobility and Malaysia's automotive ecosystem.

The construction of the facility began two years ago, and the official launch marks the completion of this significant project. MCE envisions the Auto Hub as a catalyst for strengthening Malaysia's local supply chain, encouraging greater participation in higher-value activities, generating export revenue, and building a robust automotive electronics cluster.

MCE remains committed to contributing to the future of Malaysia's automotive industry by collaborating with industry partners, suppliers, and manufacturers to create a more competitive and innovative ecosystem. The company believes that stronger collaboration between carmakers, Tier-1 suppliers, and local ecosystem players, including semiconductor and electrical and electronic companies, will pave the way for integrating Malaysian-developed technologies into automotive applications and supply chains, fortifying Malaysia's position as a regional hub for automotive electronics.
