Seremban: The Negeri Sembilan government has urged the Seremban City Council (MBS) to reassess the operating hours of the Dataran Senawang Aidilfitri Bazaar to accommodate Muslims' prayer schedules during Ramadan and enhance overall comfort for attendees.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun indicated that the current hours, from 6 pm to midnight, may not be ideal. He noted that most patrons typically frequent the bazaar post-Tarawih prayers. The state government is advocating for a review of these hours to allow Muslims to complete their Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers after breaking their fast before engaging in bazaar activities or business.
Aminuddin emphasized the importance of congregational Tarawih prayers, which, though non-obligatory, are only observed during Ramadan. He encouraged prioritizing worship before other engagements. The bazaar is a popular spot, drawing not only locals but also visitors from neighboring districts and states.
Social media has recently highlighted dissatisfaction among traders about the current operating hours, with reports of potential fines up to RM350 per hour for those exceeding the permitted timeframe.
In a separate matter, Aminuddin expressed condolences to the family of a child who tragically died after being left in a car on Jalan Tunku Hassan. He urged the public to take precautions to prevent such incidents.
Seremban district police chief ACP Azahar Abdul Rahim reported receiving a MERS 999 call at approximately 6.15 pm regarding the two-year-old's death. Initial investigations revealed that the child had been left in a Proton Saga by his mother, who forgot to drop him at daycare and only realized her oversight after work at 5 pm.
