Maxis Launches MCC Solution for Malaysia’s Defence and Security Sectors

Kuala Lampur:Maxis Berhad has introduced a Mission-Critical Communications (MCC) solution to enhance operational resilience in Malaysia's defence and security sectors. This marks the first time a telecommunications provider in Malaysia has offered such a solution.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MCC solution is provided through Maxis Business and aims to connect frontline personnel and first responders directly to central command centres. This dedicated communications link is designed for demanding field environments, ensuring reliable connectivity for those safeguarding the nation.

Maxis Chief Enterprise Business Officer Prateek Pashine emphasized the need for secure, scalable, and sovereign digital infrastructure in the AI era to ensure mission continuity. He stated that supporting armed forces, law enforcement, and first responders with network priority is crucial for real-time situational awareness and effective coordination.

During emergency incidents and natural disasters, commercial networks may become congested. The MCC solution addresses this by providing network priority to maintain mission-critical voice, video, and data connectivity during peak demand periods. It also allows field units to combine instant push-to-talk communications with live video streaming and sensor feeds, giving command personnel a comprehensive operational view.

The solution was showcased at the Cyber Digital Services, Defence, and Security Asia (CyberDSA) 2026 event, under the theme 'Building Digital Infrastructure for the AI World'. Attendees included officials from the Ministry of Digital, Ministry of Defence, Malaysian Armed Forces, and various security and enforcement agencies.

Maxis noted that this initiative builds on its efforts to provide secure and resilient digital infrastructure, following the introduction of Quantum Safe Networking at last year's CyberDSA event.
