Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that the commemoration of Maulidur Rasul should extend beyond mere celebrations and processions, urging Muslims to integrate Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) teachings into their daily lives as a source of mercy and guidance for humanity.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that the Maulidur Rasul celebration should inspire a renewed spirit, awareness, and enlightenment among Muslims. He stressed that the essence of understanding Islam lies in its practice and perception, akin to the month of independence, where the focus should be on upholding Allah's commands rather than festivities.
In his speech at the national-level Maulidur Rasul 1448/2026 celebration, Anwar articulated that the event should rejuvenate the Islamic spirit and prevent complacency. He reiterated that each chapter in the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) offers valuable lessons. The event was attended by figures including Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee.
Anwar emphasized the importance of Muslims internalizing Islamic values and serving as role models not only for fellow Muslims but also for all Malaysians and the global community. He urged for the concept of rahmatan lil 'alamin (mercy to all creation) to be manifested in building a society driven by values, principles, and excellence.
The Prime Minister outlined that a society founded on Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) teachings should embrace goodness, respect others, and uphold justice. He called for the rejection of wrongdoing, social ills, racism, oppression, corruption, and abuse of power, posing a challenge to Muslims to build distinguished communities based on these principles.
Anwar also addressed the current approach to dakwah (Islamic outreach), highlighting the need for religious messages to foster understanding and acceptance. He noted the decline in receptiveness to Islam and called for improvements inspired by Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) exemplary approach to outreach.
