Kampung maju jaya: The Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) hopes Budget 2027, which is scheduled to be tabled in October, will continue to focus on strengthening agricultural and livestock research to enhance the country's food security. MARDI director-general Datuk Mohamad Zabawi Abdul Ghani emphasized the importance of these initiatives during a press conference following the launch of the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative in Kampung Maju Jaya.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), MARDI will prioritize research into strategic crops such as rice, coconut, sweet potatoes, onions, and corn, alongside developments in the livestock sector starting next year. The agency is also focusing on entrepreneur development programmes, including the Rezeki Tani and Young Agropreneur programmes, to bolster agricultural business prospects.

Datuk Mohamad Zabawi elaborated that MARDI plans to apply for RM40 million annually for research under the Malaysia Plan. He stressed the necessity of these funds to support the projects proposed and targeted for the upcoming fiscal period.

Regarding the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative, he revealed that RM500,000 has been allocated for infrastructure development, economic empowerment, and community well-being in Kampung Maju Jaya. This includes RM250,000 designated for upgrading the village's multipurpose hall, RM44,000 for the Community and Well-being Day programme, and RM200,000 for the Community Entrepreneur Development programme.

MARDI aims to empower small-scale food entrepreneurs in Kampung Maju Jaya by improving their products and launching an urban farming project. Datuk Mohamad Zabawi expressed his aspiration that regardless of the socioeconomic status of the residents, including those involved in agriculture or food entrepreneurship, MARDI's initiatives will help them expand their businesses and generate higher incomes.
