Parit: A man was discovered deceased after his vehicle plunged into a river near Sekolah Kebangsaan Layang-Layang Kanan. The incident came to light following a search operation led by local authorities.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Fire and Rescue Department’s acting assistant director of operations, Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, reported that the 34-year-old victim was found inside the submerged car at 2.10 pm. The department initially received an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.13 pm on December 19, prompting the deployment of a 10-member team from the Parit Fire and Rescue Station.
The search and rescue mission recommenced at 8 am with assistance from the police and local villagers. The operation utilized fire department and police boats to comb through a 100-meter stretch downstream from the jetty where the vehicle entered the river.
Shazlean indicated that the submerged car was located approximately 20 meters from its entry point into the river. A crane was requested to aid in retrieving the vehicle. Once the car was extracted, the victim’s body was found inside.
Following the completion of the investigation, the body was handed over to the police for further procedures. Shazlean detailed that the operation involved a total of 11 fire personnel, 10 police officers, and around 15 villagers, concluding at 3.30 pm.
