Man’s Body Recovered After Boat Capsizes at Felda Nitar 2 Reservoir

Mersing: The administrative assistant who was reported missing after his boat capsized at the Felda Nitar 2 water treatment plant reservoir has been found drowned. The incident occurred yesterday, and his body was discovered last night.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mersing Fire and Rescue Station chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Abdul Muiz Mukhtar, confirmed that the body of 36-year-old Mohammad Putera Rizzurin Md Noh was located by the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) at 12.49 am. The victim was found approximately six metres from where he was initially reported missing and has since been handed over to the police for further action.

Abdul Muiz explained that the initial search operation involved surface water scouting, conducted by five PPDA members from the Kluang station under his leadership, with assistance from eight civilians and a witness. The operation received additional support from 13 members of the Mersing station, five police personnel, and four members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force.

Media reports from yesterday detailed that a staff member of Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Nitar 2 was feared drowned while fishing with two relatives after their boat capsized at the reservoir. The two other men involved in the incident, Muhammad Zul Hafeez Azman Adi, 29, and Shahrul Izwan Sabaruddin, 36, managed to survive.
