Man Remanded Over Stabbing Incident at IPT Campus

Kuala Muda: A 19-year-old man has been remanded for six days to assist in the investigation into the stabbing of a female student at a higher learning institution (IPT) campus near here. The remand order was issued by Magistrate M. Kalaiarasi at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, where the suspect is receiving treatment for a finger injury. The investigation is being conducted under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the media reported that the 19-year-old female student sustained serious injuries after being stabbed by a male friend at the IPT campus. Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was a former student of the institution, while the victim is still enrolled there.

ACP Wan Azharuddin explained that the incident occurred after the suspect met the victim at 10.30 am to discuss their relationship, which the victim allegedly wanted to end. In a fit of anger, the suspect reportedly stabbed the victim in the back and neck with a knife before fleeing the scene. He was arrested shortly after the incident.
