Ayer Kuning: A total of 300 heads of households (KIR) in the Ayer Kuning state constituency here are receiving assistance from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) involving an allocation of RM150,000 per month.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad stated that the recipients, comprising the poor, the elderly, and the disabled, received cash assistance in different amounts depending on their respective categories. “Some elderly residents received RM600, the visually impaired received RM500 per month, while other categories get different amounts of cash assistance,” he explained.
He made these remarks after the state government’s Charity Programme with JKM aid recipients, which was also attended by Perak Women, Family, Social Welfare, Cooperatives, and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman, Datuk Salbiah Mohamed.
Meanwhile, Salbiah mentioned that based on data of JKM aid recipients until February this year, a total of 52,057 people have benefited from all JKM monthly federal or state aid schemes. “The state government has allocated RM45.94 million this year for various types of aid which can benefit 6,000 recipients in the state,” she added.
Salbiah also emphasized that one of the state government’s efforts to eradicate hardcore poverty was contributed by the synergistic collaboration of the ‘Perak State Hardcore Poverty Eradication Task Force.’ She noted that this effort, through the involvement of all aid-giving agencies together with the district administrations throughout Perak, as well as the implementation of the One-Stop Social Welfare Centre Initiative, brings together all agencies related to poverty eradication.
