Sibu: A 68-year-old man pleaded not guilty today at the Sibu Magistrate’s Court to a charge of fabricating evidence by submitting documents containing false statements intended for use in a judicial proceeding. Ngang Hock Kung made the plea after the charge against him was read out before Magistrate Oon Kork Chern.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ngang is accused of committing the offence on February 7 this year at 4.35 pm via the online filing system e-Kehakiman Sabah and Sarawak. He allegedly submitted three documents containing false information: an affidavit in opposition dated July 10, 2024, a survey plan, and a service termination letter dated October 24, 2023.

The charge sheet indicates that the accused intended for the documents to be used as evidence in a court proceeding, potentially misleading the court or other parties. The charge is framed under Section 192 of the Penal Code, which is punishable under Section 193 of the same law. If convicted, Ngang faces up to seven years’ imprisonment and shall also be liable to a fine.

The court has allowed bail at RM2,000 in two sureties and set July 29 for case management. ASP Siti Mariyah Dahari appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by lawyer Yokya Ting.
