Man Found Dead at Gunung Keriang Summit

Kota Setar: A man died while scaling Gunung Keriang, near here, yesterday. Kota Setar police chief ACP Siti Nor Salawati Saad reported that the incident was brought to the attention of the authorities by the public, who notified the District Control Centre at the Kota Setar district police headquarters around 6.18 pm.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a 48-year-old local man was discovered unconscious at the summit of Gunung Keriang. Police and a team of firefighters responded promptly to the call and conducted a rescue operation. The victim was successfully brought down to the base of the mountain by 6.40 pm. After medical examination, it was confirmed that the man had died at the scene. The police noted there were no indications of foul play, and it is believed the man had been climbing the mountain alone.

The victim’s body has been transported to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Until the post-mortem report is completed, the cause remains undetermined. The public is urged not to speculate on the incident, as it may disrupt public order.
