Man Arrested for Alleged Stabbing of Nurse Wife in Kampung Padang Lepai

Kota Bharu:A man has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his wife six times in an incident that took place at Kampung Padang Lepai, Kadok, on Monday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the suspect, aged 47, has been remanded for seven days until October 12 as part of the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code. This information was provided by Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Azmir Damiri.

The victim's mother, Zubaidah Abdullah, 78, reported that her daughter, who works as a nurse, sustained six stab wounds to her body and neck. She was swiftly taken to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for treatment. Zubaidah mentioned that her daughter had been married to the suspect for six years and was in the process of seeking a divorce. She had previously filed a police report over threats to her life.

Zubaidah recounted that she initially believed the couple was having a typical argument until she noticed blood on the floor, prompting her to intervene. During the altercation, she attempted to stop the suspect by grabbing his shirt, but was unsuccessful. Zubaidah was injured in the process, sustaining a cut that required two stitches on her finger.

She added that her 12-year-old grandson sought help as the suspect fled the scene. The suspect later surrendered himself at the Nilam Puri Police Station.
