Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s Internet traffic saw a significant increase in 2024, as indicated by the Malaysia Internet Exchange’s (MyIX) latest data, which reported a 17 percent year-on-year rise to 2.6 Terabits per second (tbps). This represents an all-time high for the company.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the data was released following MyIX’s 17th annual general meeting (AGM). The surge in internet traffic underscores the increasing reliance on MyIX’s peering infrastructure, which is being driven by the growing demands of businesses, content providers, and consumers. This growth is contributing to a conducive environment for the advancement of Malaysia’s digital economy.
The rise in traffic also demonstrates MyIX’s capability to meet the escalating demand for high-speed and reliable internet access across the country, remarked chairman Chiew Kok Hin.
