Kuala lumpur: Malaysia recorded broad-based economic growth in the third quarter of 2025 (3Q 2025), driven by strong performance across all major sectors, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. He highlighted that the improved performance reflected close cooperation between the government, the civil service, the private sector, and the wider community, enabling the country to withstand economic and external challenges throughout the year. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah noted in a Facebook post that the gross domestic product expanded by 5.2 percent during the quarter, up from 4.4 percent in the second quarter of 2025. He expressed gratitude for the progress made under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, acknowledging the challenges faced and the commitment to providing optimal services for the well-being of Malaysians. Commenting on international developments, Fadillah addressed how geopolitical tensions and prolonged conflicts in the Middle East have impact ed energy security and global supply chains. He emphasized the importance of political stability, national unity, and prudent economic management as crucial safeguards for the country. Fadillah, who also serves as the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, remarked on Malaysia's success as the host of the 47th ASEAN Summit. He noted that the summit helped ASEAN refocus on shared priorities such as economic stability, food and energy security, while reinforcing ASEAN's role as a regional stabilizing force. On a ministerial level, Fadillah highlighted the achievements of the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA), including hosting the 43rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting. During the meeting, the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation 2026-2035 was launched, marking a significant milestone. Additionally, important agreements such as the enhanced memorandum of understanding on the ASEAN Power Grid and the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement were signed, alongside the launch of the APG Financing Initiative in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank. Fadillah stated that these achievements reflected Malaysia's leadership in advancing ASEAN's energy agenda towards a more inclusive and sustainable future. He affirmed PETRA's commitment to strengthening the energy transition agenda while enhancing efforts to transform the management of the nation's water resources for the benefit of the people and national prosperity.
