Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today emphasized that Malaysia's diversity is the cornerstone of the nation's strength. He highlighted that the country's myriad cultures, traditions, and communities are not just identifiers but form the bedrock of Malaysia's unity and resilience.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar invited everyone to visit Malaysia to witness the rich tapestry of its diverse traditions, particularly those linked to religion. He portrayed this diversity as an extraordinary aspect of Malaysian culture, stating, "This is an extraordinary thing. For us in Malaysia.we regard this as part of the culture of the Malaysian people, a power that rises, strengthens our spirit and culture." He made these remarks during his speech at the Visit Malaysia 2026 Vaisakhi Fest.
The event also saw the participation of Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo. Anwar took the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions of the Sikh community in Malaysia, noting its importance in his personal journey as well.
In a gesture of support, the Prime Minister announced an initial allocation of RM500,000 to facilitate activities and celebrations of the Sikh community throughout the country. Vaisakhi, a festival primarily celebrated by Sikhs and Punjabi communities, holds dual significance as it marks both the spring harvest and a historic religious occasion.
