Malaysia’s 2027 GDP Growth Forecast Accounts for Global Uncertainties

Rabat:Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for 2027 is set between 4.2 percent and 5.2 percent, factoring in global uncertainties and ongoing international developments, according to Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Amir Hamzah noted that despite these uncertainties, Malaysia's economy has shown resilience, with the country achieving a 5.7 percent growth in the first half of 2026.

Amir Hamzah cited Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's comments on the country's efforts to fortify its economy, highlighting a year-to-date growth of 5.7 percent by the end of the second quarter. The growth projection for 2026 is between 4.8 percent and 5.3 percent.

The government remains committed to bolstering the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through enhanced financing, cash aid, and tax incentives. Assistance extends to all societal segments, including the middle-income group (M40), to alleviate living costs.

An increase in individual tax relief from RM9,000 to RM12,000 has been introduced, addressing the fact that the relief had not changed since 2010. The M40 group will also benefit from initiatives like the BUDI95 petrol subsidy and targeted diesel subsidy, aimed at curbing subsidy misuse by foreigners and ineligible recipients.

Amir Hamzah emphasized that educational assistance encompasses all income groups, including M40, T20, and B40, to ensure comprehensive support for children.
