Malaysia: Malaysia Business Group (MBG), a conglomerate of export-oriented food and beverage (FandB) manufacturers, is set to make its mark at Thaifex Anuga Asia 2026, Asia's largest and most comprehensive FandB trade exhibition. A total of 23 Malaysian companies under MBG aim to expand their global market presence at the region's premier FandB trade show, which will be held from May 26 to 30.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MBG vice-president Mark Law said the group hopes participating companies will secure at least RM15 million in sales at this year's exhibition. He noted that most of the 23 Malaysian FandB companies are repeat exhibitors, giving them confidence that the trade show will support their international expansion efforts.
'We are expecting sales to grow to about RM15 million this year, especially as most companies are showcasing new products. They are presenting more innovative products tailored for different markets, and they are coming better prepared based on their past experiences,' he told Bernama in a recent interview.
Mark said MBG works closely with Malaysia's Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation to identify the most suitable markets for Malaysian products. 'We want to understand current market needs. For example, if we are targeting 7-Eleven, we need to know what 7-Eleven is looking for. We need market intelligence, market studies and surveys so that we are able to produce products, or package them, in a way that will stand out in 7-Eleven outlets,' he said.
Mark added that Malaysian ready-to-drink beverages and halal-certified products are expected to receive steady demand at the trade show. A total of 159 Malaysian companies will participate in Thaifex Anuga Asia 2026, organised annually by the Department of International Trade Promotion, in collaboration with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Koelnmesse, one of the world's leading trade fair organisers.
The trade show will be held at Impact Arena in Muang Thong Thani and is expected to attract buyers, importers, and food industry representatives from more than 130 countries, with over 1,168 exhibitors from Thailand and abroad. The exhibition will feature FandB displays, international business-matching sessions, showcases of food technology and innovation, and discussions on future food trends and food security.
