Malaysia to Host Historic ASEAN-GCC Summit in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia is set to create history by hosting the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, which will involve all ASEAN countries and six Gulf nations, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The summit is scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur in May.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the prime minister highlighted Malaysia’s strong economic growth and peaceful environment as key factors that have attracted global attention, making it an ideal location for the summit. He mentioned this during the Kelantan state-level Aidilfitri MADANI 2025 celebration at Pantai Irama.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also revealed that Malaysia has extended an invitation to China to participate in the summit, demonstrating Malaysia’s openness and commitment to fostering international relationships. He noted the potential presence of China’s Premier, Li Qiang, emphasizing Malaysia’s diplomatic ties with neighboring countries and the aim to safeguard the interests of its people.

The summit will bring together leaders from ASEAN countries and the Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. Anwar stressed the importance of attracting new investments from various countries, including the United States, Arab nations, and China, to create job opportunities for Malaysians.

Further elaborating on Malaysia’s global standing, Anwar stated that the country is increasingly seen as a model for both developing and developed nations, particularly regarding economic policies. He shared that many foreign leaders have expressed admiration for Malaysia’s economic stability and investment climate.

Anwar emphasized that Malaysia is not just making promises but delivering tangible results through economic growth and effective inflation control, reinforcing the success of its fiscal and administrative strategies.
