Malaysia to Face China in Crucial Friendly Matches

Guangzhou:Two international friendly matches against China are set to provide valuable opportunities for Malaysia's national football team. The matches, scheduled for November 14 and 17 in Guangzhou, aim to improve Malaysia's world ranking and aid in the selection of players for future national team planning.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, National interim head coach Tan Cheng Hoe emphasized the importance of these matches, highlighting them as a significant step for Malaysia's international preparation. He noted that China's experience and strength in Asian football will offer a beneficial challenge for the Malaysian squad.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan stated that these matches are essential for Malaysia's ambitions to secure a better seeding position for the 2030 World Cup and 2032 Asian Cup qualifying campaigns. Malaysia currently ranks 136th in the FIFA standings, while China holds the 91st position.

In their last encounter, Malaysia and China drew 1-1 in Chengdu during a friendly match in September 2023.
