Kuala lumpur: Malaysia remains committed to strengthening regional cooperation through the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) to ensure a stable, sufficient, and resilient energy supply, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized the importance of a stable energy supply in light of recent developments in West Asia, particularly those affecting the Strait of Hormuz, which highlight the critical need for economic resilience to safeguard the well-being of the people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar reiterated Malaysia's role as an energy producer, including liquefied natural gas, and its ongoing efforts to support regional energy security. He emphasized the importance of diversifying energy sources, including renewable energy, and strengthening the national energy system in line with Malaysia's development priorities. These efforts are part of Malaysia's broader commitment to playing a constructive role in regional energy cooperation.
Anwar participated in the AZEC Plus Online Summit on Energy Resilience, which he attended at the invitation of the government of Japan. During the summit, he expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for organizing the timely meeting, which provided a platform for discussing energy resilience and cooperation among Asia Zero Emission Community members.
