Toyohashi:Malaysia achieved a significant milestone by winning the bronze medal in the men's kata team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, overcoming Vietnam with a score of 3-2 at the Toyohashi Gymnasium. According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian team, comprising Mukhriz Mazlan, Mohamad Haznil Henry, and Muhammad Aiqal Asmadie, delivered a strong and precise performance, which helped them surpass their Vietnamese competitors and secure a place on the podium. Earlier in the competition, the Malaysian trio had shown their prowess by defeating Kuwait 5-0 in the semi-finals. This victory adds to Malaysia's tally in karate, marking their third bronze medal at the Games following Thevendran Kaliana Sundram's and H. Sureeya Sankar's success in the men's kumite events. Muhammad Aiqal Asmadie expressed that the achievement highlights the strength of their recently formed partnership with Haznil and Mukhriz, which began just two months prior to the Games. He remarked on the intensity and focus of thei r performance, likening it to competing in a final rather than a bronze medal match.
