Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia, as the chairman of ASEAN 2025 and host, is fully prepared to welcome the ASEAN finance ministers and central bank governors attending the 12th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (AFMGM) and related meetings starting tomorrow. Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan emphasized the nation’s readiness for the significant event.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the preparations involved not only the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) but also required cooperation from various parties, including state governments. Amir Hamzah highlighted the extensive involvement of different entities, stating, “What is interesting about the organisation this time is that we see many people involved including from the state governments and federal government agencies who came to help ensure the event which will start tomorrow a success.”
Amir Hamzah underscored the importance of the meeting for strengthening the friendship among ASEAN countries and bridging the gap between member nations. He noted the opportunity to establish closer economic relations, especially during challenging times, and expressed hope that delegates would not only engage in discussions about the region’s future direction but also experience Malaysian hospitality.
The AFMGM, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, will host around 300 delegates, including ASEAN finance ministers, central bank governors, officials from international financial institutions, and private sector representatives. The gathering aims to discuss strategies for advancing the region financially.
