Malaysia Denounces Israel’s Closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque as Immoral

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia has condemned Israel's decision to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque, labeling it as immoral and extremely heinous, as it prevents Muslims from performing prayers at one of Islam's holiest sites. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan voiced strong disapproval of the move, highlighting the ongoing violence faced by Palestinians, including the killing of innocent women, children, and civilians.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan criticized the closure during Ramadan, emphasizing it as a significant barrier for Palestinians who wish to worship. He stated, "In this month of Ramadan, they (Israel) have taken another heinous action by closing the Al-Aqsa Mosque to Palestinians who wish to perform their prayers. This is an immoral and most heinous act, as it prevents Muslims from accessing a place of worship." He expressed confidence that many other countries would join Malaysia in condemning this act. The Foreign Minister urged for the immediate reopening of the mosque to allow Muslims, particularly Palestinians, to perform prayers, including the obligatory, tarawih, and upcoming Aidilfitri prayers.

Malaysia's Foreign Ministry also issued a statement condemning the Zionist Israeli regime's continued actions to restrict access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, especially during Ramadan. The ministry described such restrictions as discriminatory and arbitrary, constituting a clear violation of international law and longstanding arrangements governing Jerusalem's holy sites.

Meanwhile, the foreign ministers of Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and the United Arab Emirates issued a joint statement urging Israel to cease the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. They condemned the ongoing restrictions that prevent Muslims from accessing the area, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
