Putrajaya: The MADANI Government is reaffirming its commitment to the growth of the national animation sector through initiatives spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that FINAS will organize a town hall session after Aidilfitri to engage further with industry stakeholders. Fahmi shared via Facebook that he recently held a meeting in Putrajaya with representatives from FINAS and the Animation Society of Malaysia (ANIMAS) to address current challenges faced by the animation industry. He emphasized the meeting's importance in understanding these challenges and expressed optimism about the upcoming town hall session.

Fahmi highlighted that ANIMAS, active since 2007 with over 5,000 members nationwide, plays a crucial role in the film industry, especially regarding export opportunities. He pointed to the success of the local animated film 'Papazola', which grossed over RM68 million at cinemas nationwide and was well-received in Indonesia, as an example of the sector's potential.

He reiterated the Ministry of Communications' ongoing support, particularly through FINAS, for the continued development of the animation sector.
