Kota bharu: Selangor FC's striker Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim played a crucial role in his team's 2-1 victory against Kelantan The Real Warriors FC (Kelantan TRW) during their first 2025/2026 Malaysia Cup round-of-16 match at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan TRW initially took the lead with a goal from Alexander Lyngbo in the 25th minute, putting the home team ahead in the first half. Selangor FC managed to equalize in the second half when Muhammad Faisal scored in the 60th minute.
As the match seemed destined for a draw, Muhammad Faisal scored again during injury time, securing a win for Selangor FC. This victory gives Selangor a slight edge when they face Kelantan TRW again for the second leg at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium on January 23.
In another Malaysia Cup match, Terengganu FC (TFC) defeated UM-Damansara United 2-0 at UM Arena Stadium, Universiti Malaya. Brazilian striker Careca scored TFC's first goal just five minutes into the match. The second goal resulted from an own goal by the UM-Damansara United captain, deflecting a TFC free kick into his net in the 78th minute. The return leg will take place at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium this Friday.
