Kuala lumpur: Malaysia defeated the Philippines 78-0 to secure the championship in the inaugural tri-nation Southeast Asia (SEA) Women's XV Rugby Championship at Padang Astaka. The team's victory marks their successful campaign in the tournament, which also featured Singapore as the third competitor. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia's coach Raimi Mohd Yusof expressed surprise at the team's dominant performance, particularly their 38-0 lead by halftime against the Philippines. Malaysia's campaign began with a 15-15 draw against Singapore on February 8, while Singapore later defeated the Philippines 51-0 on February 11. Raimi highlighted the strategic improvements made by the team after the initial draw with Singapore. "We learned from our mistakes against Singapore. We knew the Filipinas had the advantage in size, so we made sure we had a strong defence. We also capitalised on our speed," he said, reflecting on the lessons that contributed to their decisive victory.
