Rawalpindi:Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and Pakistan are engaged in discussions to determine follow-up actions regarding the detention of 130 Malaysian citizens suspected of involvement in online scam activities in Pakistan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the discussions involve the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) and Pakistan's relevant authorities. The detentions were confirmed by Pakistan's Interior Minister approximately two weeks ago.
During the same period, an operation conducted by Kedah police led to the arrest of 33 Pakistani nationals, along with several Indian nationals, at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park. Saifuddin Nasution requested the director of the Bukit Aman CCID to initiate immediate discussions with Pakistani departments to coordinate actions on this matter.
The Home Minister mentioned that the discussions are ongoing and a report is expected to guide further actions. The 33 Pakistani nationals detained in the Kedah operation have since been charged in court. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had earlier confirmed the detention of the 130 Malaysians in Rawalpindi, linked to a cybercrime syndicate.
Regarding the leadership of the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), Saifuddin Nasution noted that there have been no discussions about a successor to Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain. He emphasized that actions against civil servants facing investigations and charges must adhere to established procedures within the civil service system.
