Tehran: Malaysia and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to humanitarian efforts aimed at addressing the ongoing Israeli violence against Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, as announced by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. This declaration came during a meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, held at the President’s office, which spanned approximately 30 minutes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the discussions between the two leaders not only encompassed multilateral relations but also emphasized their unified stance against all forms of terrorism in the regions of Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. A significant focus was placed on the controversial proposal by Israel and other parties to relocate the Palestinian people out of Gaza. Mohamad highlighted the importance of the forthcoming Arab Emergency Summit, set to take place on Tuesday, whose resolutions will play a pivotal role in the deliberations at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting on March 7.
Meanwhile, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported that Egypt has confirmed its role as host for the Emergency Arab Summit on March 4. This summit is aimed at discussing strategies for Gaza’s restoration without displacing Palestinians. The summit follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to annex Gaza and relocate its population, with the intention of transforming the region into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
Further reports from February 16 indicate that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is actively working on a plan aimed at fully restoring Gaza without the displacement of its residents. Minister Mohamad emphasized Malaysia’s concern over developments in the Middle East, particularly the situation in the affected areas.
“For Palestine, we are aware of proposals from Egypt and Saudi Arabia concerning the management of the Gaza situation post-ceasefire. We hope the ceasefire endures, allowing us to concentrate on the reconstruction of Gaza,” Mohamad stated.
