Kuala lumpur: Malaysia Airlines Bhd has resumed its direct flights from KL International Airport (KUL) to Brisbane Airport (BNE). The inaugural flight MH135 departed Kuala Lumpur on Nov 29, reinstating this key connection to cater to the growing travel demand.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the national carrier announced that the resumption of flights was met with an enthusiastic response, achieving strong load factors of 86 percent on the outbound flight to Brisbane and 99 percent on the return flight to Kuala Lumpur. This reflects robust demand for the reinstated route.
With this resumption, Malaysia Airlines now offers direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to five Australian cities, reinforcing its commitment to the market. This move complements the increased frequencies to other Australian destinations such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide.
The airline has started introducing its new A330neo fleet on selected Australia routes. This fleet offers enhanced passenger comfort, improved fuel efficiency, and state-of-the-art cabin features. By the first quarter of 2026, Malaysia Airlines aims to operate the youngest widebody fleet into Australasia, emphasizing its dedication to providing a modern and comfortable travel experience paired with Malaysian hospitality.
Flight MH135 operates from Kuala Lumpur to Brisbane, departing at 8:40 pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The return service, flight MH134 from Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur, departs at 8 am on the same days.
Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd (MAG) chief commercial officer Dersenish Aresandiran highlighted that the resumption of the direct service to Brisbane underscores Malaysia Airlines’ commitment to strengthening its presence in Australia and enhancing global network connectivity. MAG owns Malaysia Airlines.
“This strategic expansion supports both tourism and trade flows between Malaysia and Queensland, while offering travelers greater convenience and choice,” Aresandiran said.
