Halmahera: A strong earthquake measuring magnitude 6.2 struck Halmahera, Indonesia, at 10.31 am today. The Malaysian Meteorological Department reported that the earthquake occurred at coordinates 1.8 degrees North and 127.4 degrees East, approximately 116 km north of Ternate, Indonesia.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the earthquake struck at a depth of 127 km. The department's initial assessment indicated that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
