Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is set to intensify its strategic collaboration with the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC), focusing specifically on handling high-profile and large-scale cases that are of significant public interest.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the newly-appointed MACC chief commissioner, Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, emphasized the importance of referring such cases to the AGC. The AGC is the authority responsible for determining the legal action to be taken based on investigations carried out by the anti-graft agency. Abd Halim stated, "I will do my best to lead, reform and strengthen the MACC," during a statement released after his courtesy visit to Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar.
The visit to the AGC marked Abd Halim's first official engagement since taking office on May 13. Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar expressed his appreciation for Abd Halim's decision to prioritize the AGC in his initial engagements as the new MACC chief commissioner, stating, "The AGC and the MACC are inseparable. The cooperation between us will continue."
Also in attendance during the meeting were Datuk Seri Saiful Edris Zainuddin, head of the AGC's Trial and Appeals Division, and Datuk Masri Mohd Daud, head of the AGC's Prosecution Division.
