MACC Awaits Official Complaint on KKDW Overspending Allegations

Kuala Lampur:The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is prepared to investigate allegations of RM2.1 billion in excess spending by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) if an official complaint is received.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman stated that the commission has only become aware of the allegations through media reports and has yet to receive any official complaints. He noted that it would be inappropriate to comment further until an official report is made.

The media recently reported that DAP advisor Lim Guan Eng called on the MACC to take action regarding the alleged overspending. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also serves as the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, clarified that the ministry adheres to government-approved budgets and allocations.
