MACC and Economy Ministry Collaborate to Oversee Local Projects

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Economy Ministry have jointly formed a special team to monitor projects approved by the ministry at the state and district levels.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MACC stated that the terms of the special team include the exchange of information between the ministry and the MACC regarding the total allocation approved to the states and districts. The team is tasked with carrying out spot checks and investigations into cases of corruption, abuse of power, and misappropriation in the implementation of approved projects.

Additionally, the special team will focus on identifying weaknesses in the implementation procedures and improving standard operating procedures to ensure more effective governance. This includes determining and channeling budgets, as well as monitoring and implementing projects effectively.

The statement further noted that MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki praised the Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli for his commitment to transparency and urged other ministries and agencies to follow Rafizi’s example in preventing project leakages.
