Shah alam: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today received business tithe amounting to RM22.15 million from 56 companies, which was presented at the Muzakki Recognition and Zakat Handover Ceremony (IMTIYAZ) 2025 here.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dherbs Holdings Sdn Bhd topped the list of companies contributing the highest business tithe with a total of RM2 million, followed by Open University Malaysia with RM1,512,614, Afed Holdings with RM1,465,000, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd with RM1,172,000, and Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd with RM1,093,836.
Also handing over business tithes of RM1 million each were the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Koridor Utiliti Selangor Sdn Bhd, Board of Land Surveyors, and Wawa Global Sdn Bhd.
LZS Chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail received the tithe on behalf of the Selangor Zakat Board at the ceremony, which was also attended by LZS Deputy Chairman Tan Sri Ambrin Buang and LZS Chief Executive Officer Mohd Khaidzir Shahari.
Mohd Khaidzir, in his speech, informed that LZS recorded a tithe collection totaling RM827 million as of last October, enabling them to make a distribution of RM1.04 billion. He noted that the collection involved 335,499 tithe payers, including individuals and corporate companies, during that period.
He further explained the increased needs at the end of the year, such as preparations for children's schooling, cost of living, and health needs, which heighten the demand for additional funds. To ensure continuity and effectiveness of tithe distribution, an estimated RM346 million more is needed throughout December, requiring a high commitment from tithe payers.
Mohd Khaidzir emphasized LZS's commitment to expanding the network of payers and improving the efficiency of tithe management, ensuring every cent is managed with trust and integrity.
At the ceremony, LZS also handed over tithe to four individuals totaling RM346,238, covering assistance for house construction, business, and medical needs. Additionally, a Government Employer Wakalah of RM83,921.17 was handed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang, for implementing tithe deductions through the Monthly Zakat Instalment involving 700 staff members throughout 2024.
