Bukit jalil: Preparations for this year's Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) are about 95 per cent complete, with only the coordination meeting involving the districts of Sepang and Shah Alam in Selangor yet to be finalised.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal stated that all matters with state governments, districts, and related agencies and departments in other states had been resolved, while the competing teams and television broadcasters had also been finalised ahead of the 2.Proseries status LTdL. Emir explained that the final coordination meeting pending conclusion is due to the recent conclusion of SUKMA (Malaysia Games) in Selangor.

Emir also highlighted the expected fan turnout as a major attraction, especially during the climb up Gunung Jerai in Kedah. Local authorities and the Kedah State Cycling Association are aiming to transform the climb into a 'mini Genting'. A special area for spectators will be created around the Gunung Jerai climbing zone, allowing fans to experience the competition closely as riders battle up the mountain.

Meanwhile, Emir mentioned that all 20 confirmed teams are expected to rely on at least two climbers for the challenging hilly terrain. Among the frontrunners are TotalEnergies, who will be counting on climbers such as Geoffrey Bouchard and Jordan Jegat to make an impact.

The race for the polka dot jersey is anticipated to be intense, especially with the climbs up Gunung Jerai, Cameron Highlands, and Genting Highlands. Organisers have increased the points awarded at Hors Categorie (HC) climbs to intensify the competition among pure climbers, making these stages particularly crucial.

The 30th edition of the LTdL from September 27 to October 4 will feature eight stages covering 1,285.5 kilometres, promising a thrilling spectacle for cycling enthusiasts.
